Storage and Preparation Tips: Celery, Romano Beans

Celery: Refrigerate in a plastic bag for a week or more. Celery is susceptible to freezing so don’t store in the back of the refrigerator where it is coolest. Wash before use.
Romano Beans: Store in a plastic bag to prevent moisture loss and wilting. Wash just before using, not before refrigerator storage. To prepare, trim ends and snap or cut into one-inch pieces for cooking or use in salads. Use as you would green beans.

One of the most versatile of all veggies, celery can add interest and flavor to a wide variety of recipes. Celery is low calories and fat, yet offers a source of potassium, folic acid, carbohydrates, protein, dietary fiber, vitamin A, vitamin B-complex, vitamin C, and calcium (among other nutrients). Try adding celery to chicken, tuna, or potato salads, stir-fries and soups, casseroles, or green salads. Or, simply dollop with peanut butter or cream cheese for a crunchy snack.
