Absolutely with you on this one! It definitely seems that in recent years more and mroe people are realising that although Wal-Mart and similar are good for buying cheap items in the short term, in the long term it completely monopolises the local economy and drives out smaller independent companies. We are a butchers in London and we urge people to buy local whenever possible to support smaller businesses.

Oh, what a shame! We were just talking about trying to by a 1/4 of grassfed beef this year. We'd like to support a local farmer. Do you have any recommendations?

Just got word that funding has not been cut and that the folks at PCD get a chance to meet with the County Council in the coming weeks to make the case for clean water, viable farms, community gardens, environmental conservation, etc. etc. Let's hope the Council is not so shortsighted as to eliminate the program entirely. Budget cuts are one thing, program elimination is another entirely.

Unfortunately, the Tester amendment would allow large agriculture to exempt portions of their supply chain. The amendment amounts to a big loophole. The Bennet, Sanders, and Brown amendments already extend flexibility and exemption powers for small farmers.

I have been looking around the web for great meats and Thundering Hooves was one of the websites I looked at, but I noticed they do not have a CSA available quite yet. When do you anticipate having meat products available? Such a great idea! Thank you!
